Nonna’s Candied Sweet Potatoes Recipe

  • Yields: 4 Servings


5 large sweet potatoes

½ cup of Orange juice

½ cup of Pineapple juice

¼ stick of Butter

1 cup of Brown sugar

2 Tbs. Honey

Pinch of Salt



1Scrub and clean the potatoes and then place in large pot of cold water.

2Over high heat bring to a boil.

3Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes or until fork has only a little resistance when inserted.

4Place the potatoes in cold water to cool off. Once able to handle peel, quarter and place them in square baking dish.

5Meanwhile, in a small sauce pot, place orange juice, pineapple juice, butter, sugar, honey and salt.

6Bring this to a boil, then lower heat to simmer, cook for about 10 or until it reaches a syrupy consistency.

7Pour syrup mixture on top of potatoes and then sprinkle a little Cinnamon on top.

8Place in 350 degree pre-heated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
