A Dame d’Escoffier that is. I couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to announce that I’ve been accepted into the Philadelphia Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, “a worldwide society of women dedicated to creating a culture in the community that fosters excellence and promotes the achievement of women in culinary professions through educational and charitable activities.”

I have admired the society from afar since the very beginning of my career in the culinary and hospitality world—there is no match for its female centered community, support and outreach efforts, or exemplary leadership in these industries in Philadelphia. Acceptance into Les Dames allows me the opportunity to further support other women in my field and the community need in Philadelphia. Membership, is truly, the highest honor and privilege.

A very special thanks to my incredible sponsors and mentors, Linda Forristal and Kathy Gold–I am so grateful for your support.

I am so excited to share this opportunity to support the philanthropy of Les Dames with you…

Outstanding in Her Field: Farm Dinner Honoring Esther McManus

Please join me and Les Dames d’Esoffier Philadelphia for the first annual Outstanding in Her Field farm dinner at the Inn at Grace Winery.  Proceeds from the dinner will support the Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarship program!

Esther McManus, “the mother of modern bread baking in Philadelphia” will be honored as “Outstanding in Her Field” for her vast contributions to the Philadelphia food scene.  She taught at my alma mater, the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College and is credited with,

“bringing the true French baguette to Georges Perrier at Le Bec Fin and building the artisan bread business at Le Bus- and has long been committed to education- from her beloved students at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College to instructing the one and only Julia Child on the fine art of croissant making!”

A woman and a cause after my own heart!
