Fly, Eagles, Fly! It’s a truly great time to be a Philly sports fan and South Philly is where it’s at. Fall finds the South Philly Sports Complex bustling with excited football, hockey and b-ball fanatics—and, hey, these folks are hungry!
The seasons are underway; plan a fun day trip to experience one of Philly’s hometown teams or one of my Philly foodie tours:
Football at the Linc
Get ready for some serious tailgating. There is plenty of football to be had at Lincoln Financial Field, whether you are heading out to catch a game with our Super Bowl Champion Eagles, or to watch some college ball with a Temple University Owls home game. On December 8, 2018, the Linc is the scene of one of the greatest rivalries in football: the annual Army-Navy Game. This year’s matchup finds the Midshipmen seeking to snap the Black Knights winning streak, with two consecutive victories in 2016 and 2017.
Sports Action at Wells Fargo Center
The sports action is nonstop in South Philly. Head to the Wells Fargo Center for some thrilling Flyers hockey or 76ers basketball. Lacrosse fans can follow the Philadelphia Wings this winter; the season opens December 15, 2018, with a game against the Buffalo Bandits.
Maybe Next Year!
There may be a chill in the air, but it’s never too early for Philadelphia Phillies fans to start dreaming about baseball and opening day. It won’t be long until the 2019 Phillies home opener on Friday, April 5, 2019, as our Phillies take on the Minnesota Twins at Citizens Bank Park.
Make a Day of It
You’ve scored tickets to the big game, now why not plan a full day of fun in Philly? Before or after the game, let me lead you on a relaxing stroll through one of Philadelphia’s tastiest neighborhoods on one of my Taste 4 Travel Food Tours. Be sure to come hungry! There will be plenty of yummy samples along the way.
You’re here to cheer on the team, but let’s face it, it’s all about the food and drink. Don’t sweat it! Upgrade your tailgating spread with some incredible Philly eats: schedule one of my tasty tours for a pre-game excursion. No everyday cheese and crackers for your bunch; we’ll check out the fabulous offerings in the Italian Market, like the legendary DiBruno Bros. Pick up some rosemary crostini and nutty Farmhouse Cheddar and get this, a cool football-shaped summer sausage. You’re about to become a Philadelphia tailgating legend!
Before the game, treat yourself to a nice glass of vino and a delicious South Philly Italian meal. Join me for the Abbondanza Italian Market Tour or the VIP Italian Market Tour and enjoy a hearty meal of pasta and gravy, with the most incredible meatballs that you have ever tasted!
For a post-game authentic Philly foodie experience, opt for the Taste of East Passyunk tour. We’ll explore the hidden gems of South Philly’s Restaurant Row, the perfect ending to the day.
Bring the Gang
Do you have a group of friends or co-workers who are getting together for the game? Extend the fun and book a private Group Tour for before or after the main event. I can customize any tour to fit your needs. It’s the perfect way to introduce your out-of-town friends and relatives to an authentic taste of Philadelphia. All of my tours range from 1½ to 3 hours, leaving you plenty of time to get to the game.
